Mattie has extensive experience teaching private flute lessons as well as coaching group lessons in public schools, and her students thrive musically and personally as musicians.  She drills the basics (tone, technique, articulation, dynamics, and breathing) while simultaneously nurturing musicianship, style, and phrasing.  A student of the Bel Canto school, her approach is toward cultivating the singing musician inside who plays through the flute.
